Transporting live animals by air requires the highest standards of care, attention, and professionalism. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has developed the Live Animals Regulations (LAR), a global standard recognized and followed by airlines, freight forwarders, and ground handlers around the world. The LAR provides guidance on procedures, container specifications, and welfare practices needed to ensure the safe transport of live animals.

The cargo environment often handles large volumes of live animal shipments, including racehorses, day-old chicks, and exotic species. Freight forwarders, cargo acceptance staff, and warehouse staff need to understand the requirements around container types, labelling, documentation, and routing. Raising Standards for Animal Transport
The Live Animals Regulations eLearning Course is an important step in ensuring that animals are treated with the care and respect they deserve throughout their journey, regardless of their purpose or destination.
The course is aimed at ground handling staff (passenger, ramp and cargo handling teams), pilots, cabin crew, animal attendants and forwarding agents. The course content is fully aligned with the guidelines of the IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR).
Certificate Awarded
Time required to study this course is 1 hour. Upon successful completion of the final test, a participant will be awarded with an eCertificate.
